Initial Ideas

Our initial ideas for the genre was to do a pop song, this is because we believe it is a genre that is very popular and listened to by a wide range or audiences. We also knew we wanted to do a video for our age group, as we have a good knowledge of trends and what we would want to see in a music video. When we chose our genre, we were then looking at artist that fit into that category, that may not necessarily be worldwide. By choosing an artist that is smaller than others, means that we can come up with a more unique idea and not base it on their other songs and videos. Therefore, we chose the artist Charli XCX, as she is a fairly new artist and doesn't have many single released songs. After listening to a range of her songs, as a group we chose the song 'Famous'. This is because it has a good and upbeat backing, meaning we can incorporate many different cuts and shots, making it interesting to the audience. We then looked and analysed the lyrics, giving us many different ideas, our initial video ideas are a party scene. With both narrative and performance included within, the narrative will be the artist talking to the boy she fancies and walking out with him to finish.

When planning this, we will need to think about all of the props, cast, equipment and location we are going to need. Meaning that as a group, when it comes to drafting our storyboard, we will include and discuss what we need and how we can get it.
